With specialty pistols?
In sanctioned matches using SP's
I think I have the furthest pd kill with a specialty handgun, but I am not for certain. I nailed one @ 1800 yards but didn't recover him (blood all over but he went into the hole) and then a recovered dog @ 1590 yards.
My longest pd kill off of a bi-pod is 1452 yards.
I don't think there are any records though. SP's are a small niche group and LR specialy pistol shooters are even smaller.

I have a buddy who has shot a bunch of em....maybe one or two still stand as NBRSA records, he also has several ARG (american rimfire group) records. The only records I will ever set will be for smallest 4 shot group....but those dont count and apparently I am a choker

I know Rick Beginski, he's got some world records. Rifles he's built have taken more than 40 world records (including his own). He's one heck of a nice guy too, very willing to help you out.
For me it is primarily about personal goals.
But I must admit, if someone says,"You can't do that with a specialty handgun, " it tends to build a fire under me
