How do you all shoot a XP-100 with rifle scopes and keep from cracking your head open ?

Carefully would be my first answer, :-) Correct answer is to send the scope in and have the eye relief made longer. Leupold will do this on their scopes for you.
Send XPHunter a pm and ask him as he has had this done on his scopes.

I only have one Leupold rifle scope that has been converted to a long eye releif scope (36x Leupy). Wally Seibert does the LER conversions but only for the 24x & 36x Leupys. The 36x ends up being a 20x LER scope but the eye relief is extremely critical and field of view is small, but it is great for group shooting and LR varminting.
All but one of my Specialty handguns that use rifle scopes (un-modified) have brakes on them and I do not see a full FOV.
Cartridges I use w/rifle scopes in SP's are: 22-250AI, 6-284, 6.5-284, 284 Win, 7mm Rem Mag Imp, and the 7mm Dakota.
You have to experiment and find out with your grip style(s) how far back your SP comes back and then make sure you have give yourself some extra grace. A good way to do that is to have someone watch you and measure how far back it goes.

And then extrapolate for what you think your rig will recoil like.

I use all types of scopes ( rifle, shotgun/muzzle loader,intermeadiate
eye relief, and long eye relief depending on the application and recoil.

The bolt action pistols do very well with intermeadiate or shotgun /
muzzle loader type scopes.

Rifle scopes should only be used when more magnification is wanted/
needed.

I have some pistols that require at least 16'' of eye relief to be safe
due to excessive recoil ( 50+ ft/lbs)

I find that under hunting conditions 7x to 9x is plenty of power out
to 600yrds and hard to hold with out a very good rest.

I believe in Murphy's law (if it can happen , it will happen ) so I don't
tempt faith by using a scope with 3''to 4'' of eye relief with any
pistol that is over 25 ft/lbs of recoil .

25# of recoil with a rifle is of no consequence because your head and
sholders move with the recoil minimizing travel toward the scope.

But the physics of pistol shooting is very different so be careful and
have fun ( not pain ).
