Re: Longest Handgun Kill

For those that have never shot a specialty pistol there is no way to explain. I can tell you that I shoot a rifle rather well (sub.200 at 100 most of the time, and 95% hits at 1200), I also shoot a handgun rather well. Now don't take this wrong because I'm not trying to brag, but I can't even come close to shooting a specialty pistol like that, although with much practice someday maybe. As for you Proman, I think you should try it, I did and found out it was not that easy at all.

Maybe you should come out and show us how "easy" these "short rifles" are to shoot.

My longest kill was on a 20oz Mt Dew in a plastic bottle, that was put out at 200yrds, one shot with my Ruger Mrk II in 22cal, 5in bull barrel, with open sights, off hand, some times its better to be lucky, than good,(but I'm good) LOL

Re: Longest Handgun Kill

In my youth(late 60s/early 70s) I owned one gun so it was used for everything from gophers to elk. My folks bought me a Ruger Blackhawk in 45LC 7 1/2"(I'm sure my Dad was trying to preserve his gun cabinet) while I was in High School. Made my own grips and tuned the trigger all by myself. Did all my own reloading and if I may brag I could shoot that gun. Now I have a two safes full of from mundane to exotic and hardly shoot anymore and am lucky to hit the backdrop at the range. Back to story of long range shot. Had a job feeding cows and loading up hay wagons while in HS. Owner liked to watch me work while he found things to do while I humped bales. I had both trucks loaded and we were heading home when Whyle Cyotee presented himself in the next field. I stoped and set up for the shot over the fender and Fred comes up and says noway. Boom, a walked off 257 yards, Me strutting, Fred shaking his head. That gun has taken 7 head I of elk, lots of grouse, and all kinda of vermin and would you believe I got talked out of it. I'm an idiot.
