Bolt action pistol help

My personal goal would be 250 yards. Beleive me, I would love to be proficient at 500 yards, but I don't have the land where I hunt to get those shots. I'm looking for a gun that's on the enjoying side to shoot too.

Okay, where do you usually hunt from? Stand, ground, etc?
Would you prefer rear or center-grip XP?
Barrel length?
What about over all weight of the gun?

The pistol hunting is fairly new for me.I hunted deer this year with a pistol and loved it.. I would prob hunt with the pistol out of a ground blind using shooting stick. I just sold a TC contender 44 mag with a 14 inch barrel. I enjoyed the gun, but I couldn't get much distance with it. I was thinking the center grip for more control, but I'm really new to this so if I'm wrong please correct me. I am one that will take advice from others on this, bc I don't want to invest in something and have to go through the process of selling it and wasting time. The other thing that is a key factor here is I don't reload so I would have to buy a caliber that I can buy the ammo from a store. Thanks, Joe

Cartridges that I would consider for you in a 14-15" barrel would be the 6.5 Creedmoor using Hornady's ammo with the 120 or 140 A-Max bullet (Match or Superperformance-Probably Match), 260 Rem (Fed, Rem., and Black Hills all make ammo for it) or the 7-08 (Hornady, Federal, Rem, Win. also makes ammo for it).
The Creedmoor would be the mildest of all three and would fit your parameters.
I have killed elk and deer with the 260 and 7-08. The Creedmoor is a newer cartridge, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it for your set-up
A good muzzle brake is also something that will cause your recoil to become basically nothing. Holland's Radial is my hands down favorite.
You will need to wear hearing protection when you hunt. You should anyway with any handgun or center-fire rifle.
