IMHO, you might leave it a bit long at first to leave wiggle room if you decide to add a brake later.

Well I cut the .270 barrel at 18". I am waiting for some better weather to start on some reloading developement.
I now have a 7mm08 take of barrel coming. I love. being able to swap barrels on the Striker. It's like having several different handguns at your finger tips!
