    Re: Winchester Brass??

From what I've heard both Winchester and Remington brass in 7mmSTW will be seasonal in nature. Supposedly Winchester is gonna make some this spring. It looks like it will be like 264WM brass, best to buy it when you see some, and not wait until you need it. I'm sure you know that you could always use 8mmRM brass, if you can locate some of that. Good luck!

    Re: Winchester Brass??

A-Square has STW brass (I dont know the price now)

They make there own brass and there is no prep required
    before loading.

I had good luck with it when I was loading 7 STW. they were
the only ones making and loading it at the time. I tried 8mm rem
and it would not last with my loads (very hot)almost 3800 fps with a 140 gr bullet.

With normal loads the 8mm rem brass will work fine but
depending on how tight your chamber is you may have
to turn them to get .015to.016 neck thickness.

    I hope this helps

    Mudstud

Ok but don,t use this data with out starting
    low and working up.

The rifle is a browing B-78 high wall with a
31.325" #6 tapered mcmillan hand laped fluted
stainless barrel with a 4.5x14 tactical mill
    dot leupold.

    Loads were
    82grs IMR 7828 140gr NOZ ballistic tip @ 3783fps.

    93grs H 5010 140gr NOZ Partition @ 3769fps.

    82.5grs Reloader 22 140gr Noz Partition @ 3804fps.

    83grs IMR 7828 130 Sierra match king @ 3860fps.

I tried 120gr bullets but lost accuracy (I may have
over rotated them @ 3970 fps.

All of these loads required a 3 foot drop tube to
load the powder with out breaking powder grains.
And rem 91/2 mag primers. to hold SD to under 10
Fed 215 primers avg,20 to 25 and were hard to
    extract.

I am experimenting witk a 7 RUM because of the new
    powders and more case capacity.

Still looking for the flatest long range combo.

I,m also looking at forward ignition to reduce
throat erosion in over bore cartridges.(the
    price you pay for speed).

I looked in my Black Hills Shooters Supply catalog (FFL dealers only) and only see the Remington version. They list Winchester as "rifle brass" and "seasonal brass" and it's not listed in either.
