Wilson case trimmer question

Just got my new Wilson micrometer case trimmer and I'm in a tizzy!! Of course the tech's have all gone home for the day. I rechecked part numbers and I ordered the correct case holders and I got the right ones. On the case holder for my 25.06 I can take a brand new, never fired case and it slides right to where I figure it should. But, if I take a fired case that has been sized with a bushing die, it does not and will not go in all the way. What's going on??

Re: Wilson case trimmer question

Are you neck sizing only? if so the body of the fired case may not fit in the case holder. The case holder maybe designed to work with full length sized cases. Away to check would full length size a case and try to see if it fits.

Yes I'm neck sizing. I'm pretty sure that's the problem. A new case slides in no problem.

Re: Wilson case trimmer question

My wilson case holder boxes specifically state on them whether or not it is for a sized case or not. Do yours? Regardless, trim all of your new cases about .003 shorter than SAAMI spec and you'll be fine for awhile.

Re: Wilson case trimmer question

well there is two case holders for each calibre one for new cases, and another for fired cases. maybe you need the other one. but both will be handy.

another tip, don't bother with the inside chamfer tool, mine cuts off centre, and if you search this on the internet you will see many others do too.

No they don't. The packing list shows for fired cases for the .243. No notation on the 25.06. I called Sinclair and a tech advised that the entire neck does not have to come out of the case holder. I thought it did thus my confusion. I sized some cases real quick for both calibers and as close as I can tell the case necks all protrude the same from the case holder on both calibers. Thusly all the cases should come out trimmed to the same length even though not the entire neck shows out of the case holder. After thinking about it I guess it makes sense. Well, we'll see.
