Ah Yes, I see what ya meen. For future refference, arn't you just as well off to use reloading data from various bullet manufacurers as long as you compare boat tail to boat tail, spitzer to spitzer and flatnose to flatnose...? Each rifle will digest the same combination differently, but your chamber pressure should be very simmilar as long as you use similar bullets and the same weight, powder, primer...IMHO.

Yes, I am just curious as to why Nosler would come out and say 550 & 560 are their powders of choice, then have no data to back it up. Seems to me that if 550 & 560 are their favorite powders in the 300WSM they should publish their findings. Don't ya think.

The last Nosler reloading guide (5th edition) shows Viht N550 loads in 300WSM for everything from 125gr to 220 gr bullets, with it as the most accurate for 125gr and 180gr. Nothing at all about N560 in 300WSM. They don't show N560 until the 250gr bullets in the 338RUM. Maybe a bit slow for smaller stuff in 24" to 26" barrels.

Peashooter, Can't explain what a factory thinks. Just going by what the ballistician told me on the phone when I called them. They quoted me loads for my 300WSM using VitV powder when I asked. That is when lab guy told me that they do their testing with V550 & V560. Most folks can't get this powder locally so it is not very popular. Maybe they list the most popular powders in their manuals?? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
