I think it will be economics that sinks the bill rather than any form of political pragmatism (now theres an oxymoron!).

I'm not sure if the current political leadership here cares about economic consequences for their political goals. I think they feel that they have a mandate, and that the ends justify the means. I believe the end game here is full socialism/communism, and get it done as rapidly as possible.

I may just be a little too glass half empty, but that is what it looks like to me.

Maybe on the bright side, it will curb our immigration problems. The US may not look like the best country in the world to live after they are done.

"When reloading is banned"

I imagine that I will become a criminal! I'm sure as hell not going to stop reloading and I guarentee that none of my firearms will ever be registered!

I'm not a lawyer (not even close). What happens if a treaty is signed that directly conflicts with the constitution? This so clearly "infringes" on our 2nd amendment rights that I would imagine a huge court battle that would paint the administration as the gun grabbing socialists they are!

Re: When reloading is banned..

Senator Arlen Spector just switched to the other side of the aisle. Dems now have a filibuster proof 60 seats. Wonderful.

assuming Democrat Al Franken is eventually sworn in as the next Senator from Minnesota. (Former Sen. Norm Coleman is appealing Franken's victory in the state Supreme Court.)'
