Ok, that's several times I've heard excellent Accubond results, plus they don't cost a bunch since I'm only 14. Looks like I will go with them. And they are cool black and red. (I think?)

The AB"s are great all around choice. They'll work close, far, shoot good, penetrate, expand, have high BC"s for conventional hunting bullets. I would shoot a 160g AB, 162g AMAX, or a 168g VLD. The AMAX will be th cheapest bullet, then the VLD, then the AB"s. The AB's you'll be getting for reloading are standard color of bullet, with a white tip. The black and red ones are combined technology which are loaded by winchester. As of now, those aren't available to the public for reloading, I wish they were though.

Shooters ProShop has factory seconds available for $12.95 per bag of 50. I have abouot 300 with the red tip but no coating.

Where can I get VLD bullets and what are their BC? What do they do on game? I've seen the a-max on Hornadys website, but I don't want anything that blows up at close range as I may encounter a shot like that.

I suspect he is referring to the Berger match bullet. It is built on the thin J4 jacket. The term VLD means very low drag. Then there is the term ULD which means ultra low drag. As far as I know there is no "technical" definition of the terms.

Thin jacket means possibly too much expansion or explosion at close range right? Or so I've been told? What do the "Wildcat" bullets I've read on this site about cost? Are they basically the same thing as the Bergers?

The 162gr SST from Hornady is what I have loaded for the last 4 years. Has a decent b.c.,is really cheap(100 per box for same price as any other) and has been absolutely devastating on deer from 25-500 yards. Plus they average well under 1/2 m.o.a from my heavy barrel savage.
