Wanted load data, 300 WM 170gr. Hornady
I can:t find any load data for Hornady interlock 170gr. FP bullets. Hornady no.3060 on box. Anyone have load data for this bullet in 300 WM? I have IMR 4350,and H4831 powders. Thanks

Re: Wanted load data, 300 WM 170gr. Hornady
For a 300 win mag with a 170 I'd use 165 data or 168 match data. I haven't run flat points in my 300 win, but I've done it in the '06 and it worked suprisingly well, back when I was younger and more broke. Those fp bullets sometimes sell cheap and are pretty dang accurate to mid-range.
168 GR. HDY ..... IMR 4350 = 68.0..... 2883fps.... 72.5 .....3089fps
168 GR. HDY..... Hodgdon H4831 = 72.0 ....2876fps..... 75.5 ....3023fps
remember to start low on this as it isn't the exact bullet and work up.

Personally I'd get a pound of rl22 and work up to 78 grains. You'll hit 3200 fps in a 24 inch barrel. Start 10% down if you do that since that's what I use for 165's.
I get 3280 in a 26" with 165 hornady, 78 rl22, and a 215.

who knows, if I havn't gotten rid of my '06, I might have stayed with the 170 speers. They hit hard and shot well.

I am taking out two 15 year old children who passed their Hunter Safety course last year elk hunting in sept. Iam going to let them use my 06.Rossco his children and myself have permission to hunt on posted land by owner.Rossco is custom farming the land and sees elk regulary. I will load the 170s in the 06 useing 168 data and try them there.

Check out the Hodgdon site online for data for the 168's in the '06. They have a lot of data for a free site.
