ULTIMATE trivia

My job, since I have an internet connection, is to find ANY info for IRECO85 smokeless rifle powder for my neighbor. He "scored"[methinks someone "dumped"] a two lb. can of the stuff and the only load data on the back is for the following with bullet weight in grains~max. load in grains, in that order, after the cartridge: 264 Winchester 140~71, 7mm Rem Mag 160~72-74, .270 Weatherby 130~77-79+160~72-74, .300 Win Mag 150~82-87+180~84-86, and.300 Weatherby 180~90 velocity and pressure was also included for all loads. I have found zip for info, not even a mention on some pretty inclusive burn rate charts. Any info would be appreciated. My neighbor bought it for his new toy a .257 Weatherby, his new Pronghorn rifle.

Old Bear here is sitting on about 14 pounds of the stuff and I was talking about it with him just the other day. You may want to PM him with the details but I believe he said he runs as much IRECO 85 as I run of RL 22 in our 300 win mags with 180 grain bullets and the pressures were pretty mild.

It is not a bad powder. In fact, it was known to give some rediculously fast velocities with a wide variety of bullet weights. I wouldn't mind aquiring a bit to tinker with myself.

Oh, I forgot to mention, he has a broken leg right now (atv rollover) so it might take a few days for him to respond. It's quite a chore getting to the 'puter!

Ouch! Hope he heals quick, broken bones heal a little slower when "mature". I'm in no rush, if my neighbor needs some, I have 4lbs of RL22 just to hold him over. Thanks again.
