Trim to Length for 7mm Weatherby

The manual states a TLL of 2.539", but I have been using 2.448" I did not find a good discussion on this when I searched, so I was curious as to anyone else's experience with TTL that is supposedly too short. Any problems, issues, or unexpected results? Steve on the Nosler board states, based on good documentation, that we can go .020 under case length and it is still in spec.

What is the preferred method for TTL: Lathe or Trim die? Do the lathe guys have a hard metal case of correct TTL so that the cutter does not not accidently alter the case length?

Hornady manual lists TTL of 2.535.

Sierra Manual lists TTL of 2.540

My advice. Fire the brass one time with a light load, try to only partially resize and don't trim unless you have to. Excessive trimming will cause the case to stretch at the belt and you will have case head separation.

My hunting loads in 7mm Wby run on the raggedy edge of safety and blown primers and and separated cases are pretty much a way of life for me.

I have used trim dies and I have used the Forester case trimmer. The difference is the Forester case trimmer leaves the neck round and I do not have to trim all the way back to minimum. I can just trim enough to get under max case length. Helps with the stretch issue.
