Superformance w/ A-Max?

I did it with the 243. Bought a box of 95 gr sst's and pulled the bullets. Powder averaged 48.5 grs. Also worked up a load with the 105 A-max with 44.5 grs with MV of 2970 fps with 22" barrel. A great deer round!

Well from personal experience, I would never use an SST on any game animal. Horrible performance, and that was in a 308 regular Hornady factory ammo. So, to use an SST at even higher velocities is unthinkable unless that animal was WAAY out there. Total blow up at 230 yards on a small pronghorn.

But, I'm very glad this thread came up because I didn't even think about buying the factory stuff and pulling the bullets, and reload them with MY bullet of choice! Bass Pro has a ton of Superformance on the shelf in many of the calibers I shoot.

Will likely go down tomorrow morning and leave with about 20 boxes.

And they have a 53 grain vmax superformance, but they have no load data for the powder we can buy. So this tells me that the blend they use is a little different.

Very true... Wonder why they market the Superformance powder saying "you can load your own favorite Hornady loads" if its not going to be the same. lol

So checkout what I just learned... I looked up Superformance on Hodgdon's website and found this -
