Sierra gameking 165 gr 30-06 load

Hi All,
Any suggestions for a load please?
I have purchased IMR 4350 powder to load the above.
The 2nd edition lee modern reloading states between 51.8-54.0 grains.
But i have found that the data on the IMR site states you could start between 56.0-60.0gr
Going to be used in my Browning X-Bolt.
I am a little confused and when it comes to reloading that is not where i want to be.
Cheers
Richard

Re: Sierra gameking 165 gr 30-06 load

I know it's slow, but I've been using 53gr of IMR 4350 behind a 165 Sierra HPBT Gameking. That sends them along at 2650 fps from my 24" barrel, but I'm more impressed with the accuracy than anything else. From looking at my manuals, you should be able to work up to a 60gr compressed load and still be within standard pressures.

30-06 165 gr load use 57 to 57.5 grs of IMR 4350. This load should be under MOA. Please work up to this load as its MAX load. Around 2800 -2850 fps in 22" barrel.

Re: Sierra gameking 165 gr 30-06 load

I've gone with 58.0gr's of IMR 4350 in my old 06's... using 168gr & 165gr Sierra bullets... I found near the max seems to give the best performance, velocity and accuracy in the 06's rifles. At any rate you've got the right powder.
Good luck

Re: Sierra gameking 165 gr 30-06 load

I found 56 grs. IMR4350 with the 165 gr. Sierra GK works well in my Model 70 or 57 grs. of H4350. This is with Winchester brass and CCI 200s. Both loads run mid 2830-2850 ft/sec. in my rifle.

Re: Sierra gameking 165 gr 30-06 load

I've had luck with 56.0 gr IMR 4350 with 165 gr, Fed 210 primers, and Winchester brass.
Velocity was about 2700 fps with a 22" barrel.
This shot very good in my Rem 700, plus it shot good in other bolt and pump action rifles.
