Run out question

I'm getting horrible run out on my 6.5-284and i'm wondering if its because I'm using a compressed load of Retumbo and 140 bergers. The run out on my brass before loading is no more the a thousenth but after I seat the bullet i'm at 5-7 thousenths. I'm using Redding comp dies.

That may very well be the problem.

When using heavily compressed loads, Some times the rounds wont chamber because the
powder has ballooned the case.

Instead of compressing the powder charge with the press, try using a drop tube when charging
the case. This will sometimes make a huge difference in the amount of compression or will
eliminate the need to compress the powder charge that would normally need it.

I use one that is about 3 feet long with a funnel on top and the bottom is chamfered just like
the powder measure.

How about loading a couple of dummies with no primer or powder and see what your runout is?

If excessively compressed loads are the problem try a faster powder.

The wierd thing is I loaded twenty rounds to test about two weeks ago in one grain increments 55, 56, 57, and 58. They all came out just fine. I usually dont do it this way but I don't have much time to shoot because of kids and work. I only had time to shoot 55 and I skipped to 57 because the velocity was not consistant at all. 57 got me down to single digit sd and a .75 moa group. I had to pack up at this point due to time constaints. So back to last night when I got a chance to tincker in the garage. Since the last time I loaded those rounds I have not changed a thing I left the the seating die in the press and didn't touch anything. I took fifteen new nosler cases and just like I started with checked them for run out and loaded three five round sets inbetween 57and 58 and everyone but three came out with awful runout. I should have posted all this last night but I was kinda tired. I'm still going to try any sugestion I get but this may narrow down the problem. Thanks guys for your help.
