Retumbo VS H1000

Hey guys, just wondering how many of you use Retumbo over H1000,,or Vise versa...I am using retumbo in my 338 rum with 225s...Heard that the h1000 is better with bigger bullets...250s 300s...which usually gets best velocity, I know ever gun is different, just looking for some info..thanks

Generally when you change powder with bullet weights, you use a slower powder with heavier bullets. Retumbo is slower than H1000. So you would assume that if H1000 is the best choice for 250 and 300 grain bullets it would also be the best choice for 225 grain bullets. You could also assume that H1000 might be the best choice for 225's and Retumbo might be the best for 250 and 300's. I don't know any reason it would be the opposite.

When I first bought my 338 rum, I tried H-1000 and wasn't happy with the velocity I was getting and so I used other powders. Then about two years ago I tried another lot of H-1000 and found that it was much hotter than the previous lots I had tried. Now, I am only using H-1000 for both my 300 rum and 338 rum. I am loading 97 gr in my 300 with a 180 NAB @ 3450 and 98 gr in the 338 rum with 225 NAB @ 3300, 97 gr with 225 TTS @ 3200 and 91 gr with 300 Berger @ 2850, 90 gr with 300 Berger @2780 Very temp stable

I run 87.5 Retumbo in my Norma and get 2750 w/300 otm Fed 215 M.Its working
