retumbo in a 300wm

Is anyone using retumbo with 180 gr ab in a 300wm? I am seeing guys running it in the heavys 200+. Is it too slow with the lighter bullets? I want to try to reduce the powders that I buy thanks

Yes it's possible with 180's. There was just a thread on this a while back. My brother was doing this for a couple of year when he had a 300win. He was using data for 200 grain bullets. Shot very well.

I would say it's too slow for the 180's. H-1000 is about as slow as I would go for 180 grainers.

rl-22 works best with 180's in mine

Yes it's a compressed charge but it'll go like hell. His rifle was doing 3100 fps on 200 grain bullets with retumbo and over 3150 with 180's. Great accuracy but it recoiled plenty stiff in a #1

I am using h4831sc in it now and am getting 3050. It is the only rifle I load for using that powder and I load 3 others with retumbo.

I tried retumbo in my 300wm but the load was so compressed that it actually was pushing the bullet up in the case after seating. Plus, it never shot great in mine either, but I now some that use it. BTW, I was loading 210 vld.
