Rem 700P 300WM Accuracy Issues UPDATED
Pulled a Rem 700P from the rack to set up to go elk hunting this year.
B&C LT Tactical Stock, bedded, floated, etc
Leupold 4.5-14x50LRT M1 TMR
Leupold MK4 rings and base.
Ran some factory Hornady 165gr IB ammo through it. Had 5 boxes, 2 were old, 3 were new. The two old boxes shot well, not great, but MOA 1/4 ish. Very consistant. Went to verify at a couple different ranges on the third box. WOW, this thing is like a 3MOA gun now. And so was the rest of the ammo.
I had pulled the scope and rings off of a custom Sako in .260 I built. I didn't have to seperate the rings from scope, rails lined up perfect.
Heck with the factory stuff, can't get it anyway. Time to reload this thing.
Started with H1000 and 180 Accubonds. H1000 shot like the three boxes of Hornady, .....It didn't......
Switched to RL22 and ran the 180 Accubonds at 3,088 with F215M primers and 75.5gr charge.
Better, but not good by any means. What I mean is that I could live with 1.5" MOA to 500 if it was consistant. It is not even close. This load does shoot better than the compressed H1000 and a bit faster. I am running these at 3.550OAL btw.
The crown on the rifle wasn't great, but not dinged up, etc. I cleaned it up and it looks to be fine. Consistent carbon tracking off the lands.
Anyone have any suggestions, ran into something similar, what bullet does yours prefer?
