Reduced Loads for the 460 Weatherby

Using reduced loads of 4895 works just fine, but was wondering if anyone has tried Trail BBoss loads and what kind of velocity you are getting out of them?

I would love to hear this as well. What loads are working with 4895 for you would love to have something a bit more pleasurable to shoot out of mine?

Re: Reduced Loads for the 460 Weatherby

I am shooting loads from 85 through 95 grains of 4895 under Hornady 350 grain RN with Winchester Mag primers, for reduced loads. Works great and VERY easy on the shoulder.

I am also shooting Trail Boss under 405 grain Bullet Barn lead bullets for grouse and plinking loads. These have zero recoil and are a ball to shoot with the open sights on the 460. Start at 20 grains of TB and work your way up till you get a load you like. I am getting 1/2" groups at 50 yards with mine. (You cannot get enough TB in the case to do any damage, just don"t get into compressed loads or the groups will get erratic, stop when it is full to the point the bullet just touches the powder for best results.)

Re: Reduced Loads for the 460 Weatherby

Accurate has some reduced loads using their AA5744 powder for the 460 WM.
455 gr (L) RNGS start 40.0 1520 fps. Max 65.0 2192 fps.

HDY 350 RN start 61.2 2113 fps Max 68.0 2402 fps

They also have a bunch more loads with 5744 listed for the 458 Win mag that you could also use in your 460 WM.

I shoot AA 5744 in my 45-70 with cast bullets and it is very accurate.

The HDY 300 gr HP going 1700 fps or so would make one heck of a deer thumper. So would the HDY 350 RN at 2100 or so fps. Neither would really pound you to death.
