Varget, RL10x, 8208, H322, H380, BLc2. That should atleast give you some options for being able to find a powder that's actually on a shelf for sale now. I've had good luck with all of them working in my guns. If you can go with heavier projectiles, H414, H4831sc, and RL-15 work really good.

These are my choices too. Varget is more temp. stable, H-380 is a ball powder and meters better.

Here is a typical six shot 333 yard target with a 52gr A-max and H-380. (Hole to the upper right is from my 7mm rem)

Re: reccomend powder for 22-250

The op says he wants to shoot 36-50grn bullets, so really Varget and H380 are to slow. I can't say how the 300yrd grouping is, but my go to 40grn Nosler BT load is 35.5grns of RL10x in Lapua brass with CCI BR2 primers at saami length 2.35", it averages 4280fps and at 100yrd you can cover 10 shots with a nickle. Last summer I exploded a ground hog at 436yrds, he wasn't concerned with the grouping! I shoot this load at a 14" square steel plate at 525 all the time and its pretty easy.

My powder of choice, would be, XMR 8208, then Varget, and then H380.
The 8208 is very consistent, ES, SD are low, velocity high, accuracy incredible. For the 36-40 grain bullets, I think it would work very well. Enjoy.

Prepare to have your mind blown: I too prefer Varget.

I have had good luck with IMR4895 as well. 50gr Blitzkings.
