RANGE REPORT, 7 mag, and 162 A Max, and 168 VLD

How do those 162 Amaxs work on animals up close, 100 yards and in?

From what I've seen, about the same as the Berger.
@ 100, big mess on broad side shots.
I would'nt recommend them inside 400 yrds (if started around 3000 fps).

Uh' oh' .... I keep hearing different stories about that. I have heard thatthey perform like a BT, and I have heard that they mushroom well, and go through. I am planning on finding out in July on a crop damage hunt. I shot some of the original A- Maxes today in my 700P, and they group VERY well. My STW prefers the new style, with the " amp" jacket. Time will tell on that one.

I have a ton of 7mag loaded up to test out. Shot two different loads the other day. Will report when all my loads are finished being tested.

At 308 win velocities they may work better but at 7mm Mag velocities they come apart at close range. But the BT does too.
The SST would be a better choice and it only gives up about 100 yrds to the
A-Max.
