Problem with Redding 30.06 Seating die?

I am just getting in all the components and dies to reload for my brother's 30.06. Got a Redding FL S bushing sizing die, and the standard Redding seating die for 30.06 (NOT the Micrometer Competition seating die).
Here's my issue, in seating Berger 168 grain Classic Hunter bullets, my seating stem is bottomed out, my die is as low as it can be set without squashing my case & I am not anywhere near my desired seating depth, my intended depth is to seat the boat tail/bearing surface junction at the neck shoulder junction of the case.
The boattail/bearing surface junction is not much more than half way down the neck.

Would I be able to use the seating stem from my Redding 7mm seating die in the 30.06 die so that the seating plug would hit a littlie higher on the bullet and allow me to seat it deeper?

I've seen a few other posts on different calibers with this same problem.

Ideas?

You need a seater plug made for VLD type bullets...Redding offers one, call them...or check Brownells, Midway, etc.

Why not try it and tell how it works. Either it will work or it won't but it won't blow you up. ??

Well when I got home last night after work, I tried putting the seater stem from my 7RM Redding seat die into the Redding 30.06 seat die, works like a charm. Can seat to what ever length is needed, which was not possible with the stem that came in the 30.06 die and the Berger 168 gr Classic Hunter Bullet.

You hit the nail right on the head. Had to purchase different seating plugs from Redding. Works like a champ now.
