Power residue on case shoulder

Starting to see it on a few Lapua cases that have been used 10x and were annealed 2 shots ago. Powder residue down to about datum, no further. Not all the way down, just dipping into that area with the rest on the neck where it usually is.

In the words of Ren (from Ren and Stimpy fame): "What does it mean?!" Is annealing in order again, already?

Yes, it does sound like the brass is loosing it's elasticity. Are you sure they were sufficiently annealed the last time?

Re: Power residue on case shoulder

I would think the same, not annealing the cases. I see a lot of guys posting times
of 6 to 8 seconds with 1 propane torch. It takes me 11 seconds with a map gas bottle
to get the first faint glow in a pitch black basement. The torch is the only light. The only
thing is my cases are 52-55 degrees as a starting point and theirs may be a lot warmer.
The 2 torch annealing machines are about 6 seconds, some cases 8 so I don't believe
these guys are actually doing much annealing. m2c
