What is the twist in your barrel and what weight of bullet are you referring to?

On the 140's - I have no personal field proven experience
On the 168's - H4831sc but don't rule out Retumbo (it will be a slightly compressed load)

2 different rifles both finished @ 25", field verified at 3400 ft. elevation and 40F, 1-10 twist

H4831sc - running at 2840 fps w/168 berger VLD
Have been higher velocity but this is where my field verified accuracy was
at it's best

Retumbo - 2950 fps (different rifle) from H4831sc w/168 Berger VLD

Work loads up gradually as all rifles/barrels are different.

Not questioning the above response but I would be surprised if a factory 280 Rem would come with a 1-9 twist.
