Waaaay too slow! You need some Varget or RL-15, either one will do just fine. These two powders dominate the competitive shooters loads, and are probably about 50/50 among shooters on the line at Perry. Both will give good velocity and excellent accuracy.

tac and 4895 will work well too. I like rl series but found h4895 to be very accurate in my dpms with 75's. Tac is my load 'em quick powder and does nearly as well.

Re: Powder for .223 77gr

Im kinda new to the AR group, but coming from a single loading bolt I always stayed away from bullets going way in and using case capacity. So with my AR Ive found the 69 sierra about max on AOL and not over filling or stealing case capacity. I can imagine what a 77 grainer would do. How is this working out? maybe I need to not listen to my past ideas and try it???

I don't like a bullet eating half of the case capacity either, but in both my 375 H@h (with 300 tsx) and my AR with 75's this is what you have to do. It doesn't seem to really matter as lond as you use an appropriate powder.
