Pet loads for 3006?

Both 4350's is a good powder in the 06 and I have used a lot. I have been using the heaver bullets to get better down range performance and my main load now is the 190gr Berger with 58gr of H4831 @ 2680. Very accurate load. I just could not get IMR 4350 and that bullet to work but was getting a little more velocity.

I've been foolin with Reloader 17 and 200gr Accubond and am pretty impressed with the velocity. I am waiting for the new Nosler 190gr LR. If RE17 and that new bullet can get along and the advertised BC of .640 is anyway near close that will be a sweet elk load in the 06 at around 2700fps.

With 165-168 gr I have found 57.5gr & 59grs of H4350 to work well. 59grs is a top end hot load.

Yeah. But, if I gave you my 'pet load' and you use it, you would only be loading for my rifle. My load isn't likely to be any better for anyone else than throwing a dart at the loading manual.

An old shooting mentor of mine loaded very accurate hunting ammo for himself and others with H4350 and Speer bullets. His philosophy was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Mason swore by that powder for the '06 and put many deer away with it.

This load shot well in my 06 but beware I tried working up a load in my friends 30-06 and only made it to 56.5 before pressure was evident. Good luck

As said most 06's will do well with 56-57 IMR4350 and 56.5-59 H4350 and 165/168 of choice. I do ok with 180's and 4350, but recomend Hunter and RL22 if 180's are what you are looking for.

Yes H4350 is a good powder for the '06 with 165 or 180gr bullets. Good luck finding any quantity of it now.
