Re: Nosler 300 win mag brass
I am working on second and third firings on my Nosler 300 WM brass. I have not had to trim them yet, and I am bumping them back 0.0015" with my FL die. I am running 190 Berger VLDs and SMKs at 2957 and 2927 fps respectively. The length of the brass does not seem to be growing much at all; however, the brass does have less capacity than RP brass does. I was running 77 gr RL22 in RP 300 WM brass with the 190 gr Berger VLDs and getting 3029 fps with no pressure signs. At 74 gr RL 22 I was getting 2890 fps. I obtained a max of 75 gr with the Nosler brass at a velocity of 2997 fps. 74 gr gives me 2957 with sub 10 ES. I use IMR 4350 with the 190 gr SMKs and get 2927 fps with that combo.
I tried H1000 with the 175s with great accuracy, but I have not run them over a chrono just yet. RP brass loaded with 83 gr H1000, and the Nosler load was 81.5 gr H1000 for 3/4" groups at 200m. I am guessing the velocity is in the neighborhood of 3050 fps.
I love the brass thus far. I'll get weights and lengths before and after on the brass I have for comparison sake.
