Nosler 280AI brass, general consensus?

I did a search on LRH for NOSLER 280ai brass, to see if folks like it and how it holds up over time. It seems the general consensus is that its very good and possibly even better than nosler brass in other calibers? Does that sound accurate?

For those using NOSLER 280ai brass, are you happy with its consistency and longevity?

PS. still tossing around the 6.5-280ai concept....

thanks,

Good brass, better than R-P brass.

Re: Nosler 280AI brass, general consensus?

Have 2 - 280AI in the family. When the rifles were built there was no factory 280AI brass so went with Norma 280 rem brass and fire formed. Was not at all pleased with the consistency of the brass. Used for 4-5 reloads and was chucking brass away faster than I could inspect them. Out of frustration I ordered some Nosler 280AI brass. Weight, length and volume were very consistent. I was so pleased with them after 4-5 reloads I ordered another batch. They also were very consistent but were different from the first batch. Wish I would have ordered more the first time from the same lot number. My experience has been that the same lot numbers are dead on but each lot number is slightly different from other lot numbers of production. Overall I will never fire form another 280AI brass as long as Nosler keeps their quality where it is at. The next time I order I will get enough quantity of same lot number that I won't have to keep brass separated.

Re: Nosler 280AI brass, general consensus?

I have used Nosler 280AI brass and Nosler 280 rem brass. My gun develops an internal do-nut with the 280AI brass but does not with the 280 rem brass.

Don't really mind fire forming since I want fired brass and not new anyway. And it can be quite accurate

The Nosler 280 rem brass I got is very consistant

Re: Nosler 280AI brass, general consensus?

I fireformed some Rem 280 brass and it's shooting pretty good in my 280AI and I also have some Nolser 280AI haven't shot it yet. I miked the necks on the Nosler brass and its running .0135" to .013" vs the rem at .0125" to .0135".

I load at the range so one case last me a long time and I've got about 5/6 firing before having to FL size.

Re: Nosler 280AI brass, general consensus?

thanks for the responses so far.

Sounds like JD338 and Cowboy are pleased with the nosler 280ai brass, Woods is happy with nosler 280rem brass but not so pleased with 280ai brass, and Tom has found more consistent neck thickness than rem brass.

Keep the responses coming folks; thanks in advance.

Just to keep things on track, I went ahead and clarified my original post asking specifically about NOSLER 280 ai brass.

Re: Nosler 280AI brass, general consensus?

Like cowboy, I have noticed a slight variance in lot to lot, however nothing that I get too concerned about. Even though it says prepped and sized from the box, I have to run it though my FL since they are only Neck sized, for mine the shoulders/head space is just a little tight. As far as durability I have some with about 8 reloads and seem to be going strong. I have been more than happy with the 280AI brass.........
