Re: New to reloading need help

I've loaded Superformance at 43gr behind 50gr Vmax with no pressure signs. They were loaded to a very long COL as my 22-250 likes them just a few thou off the lands. Start low and work up!

For what its worth, I never got that powder to shoot up to par in that gun. . .

My gun likes Varget with IMR 4895 as a close second. If you are experimenting with bullets too, take a look at Sierra Blitzkings. They have a different profile than the VMAX and may give you a different result (good or bad).

Good luck!

Re: New to reloading need help

Hodgdon has nice load data on their site. They don't have the superformance powder for 50 grain bullets listed but they have many other powders listed. They start listing the superformance powder once you hit the 60 grain bullets. I don't have personal experience with the sierra blitzkings but have heard good things (I actually just ordered the 55 grain ones to load up in my new 6mm). I personally shoot the 50 grain v-max in my 223 and they work wonderfully. My grandpa has a 22-250 and shoots 55 grain Sierra Blitz (not the Blitzking) and uses IMR 4831.

The 22/250 really likes IMR4064 and H380 with either 50 or 55gr bullets. Everything else is secondary.
