RCBS or Hornady single stage press is a good place to start.
If a starter kit is available you might save a little $$.
I started with a RCBS Junior.
I'd like to get rid of it but that press just won't quit.

RCBS is a good press. I started with the Rock Chucker kit and built up equipment from there.

As for dies, you will hear lots of conversation. I use Lee dies but many will pile on that Redding is the only way to go.

Re: Need a good press

Forster and Redding make the better presses and dies. The RCBS ChargeMaster Combo is the best answer to your scale/powder measure requirement. The spec for a 338LM-capable press shakes up your selection. Redding's Big Boss may be capable; their UltraMag will definitely do it, but would not be my first choice in a general-use press.

A VLD-type inside chamfer is preferable. The Sinclair catalog will show you the better accessories.

Imperial sizing wax and a dial caliper are needed. You'll also need tools to trim brass and to seat primers.

Re: Need a god press

Go with Forster Co-Ax or Redding Ultramag in my opinion.

Reddings T-7 is good as well but depending on the torque you may end up putting on it you might wish to play it safe with the Ultramag.

Do a little searching on the Forster and you will likely choose it.

But the other brands have decent presses as well.

I like Forster dies for the most part with Lee decapper and neck collett die.

Buy Quality and buy it once

Re: Need a god press

I have several different presses and in my opinion if you want a volume press Than I would suggest the 550 dillion. If you do not need volume now than the RCBS RockChucker is bullet proof and when you buy the package deal you get all you need other than the electric scale.
