Neck sizing

Hey guys just bought a redding deluxe 3 piece die set. Never used a neck sizer only die, always used full length dies. I've heard the only real impact It has on your round is the life you get out of your brass. is this true? Was wondering if it has an impact on accuracy if you just resize the neck all the time.
Rifle is .338lm bolt action/Lapua brass.
Any input!!!!

Re: Neck sizing

In the Swift and .17 Remington I find better accuracy plus longer case life with less trimming when neck sizing. You may need to consider annealing occasionally to keep from splitting necks.

Re: Neck sizing

Neck sizing only won't hurt anything. But if your die set did not include a body die, then you'll need one soon(they're cheap).

There are a lot of cartridges that can get by with NS & bump only, but most are not designed well enough. Shoulders still need bumping, and depending on a few things you may need some lower body sizing, or a lot of body sizing.
Either way, a custom die is often the best and most cost effective, as it combines the specific sizing needs.

Re: Neck sizing

Ya cheers for that. A full length die did come with the set. Will use the full length die now and then to make sure the integrity & shape of brass is still there after a few reloads. Cheers for the feed back!!!
