Mossberg 800A load
I am reloading for an older '66 Mossberg 800a .308 WIN. My lands start at 2.954 with this particular bullet. However, the chamber will not allow anything longer than a 2.75 (0.05 shorter than the recommended 2.80 max overall length for 308WIN). That is a 2 tenths "jump" to the lands and longer jump than I have ever had to leave. Is this throat erosion, or were these rifle built to handle larger jumps? Factory ammo measures 2.69 and clears easily. It is still a heck of a hunting gun and patterns well considering the heavy trigger.
