Re: Making 338 Rum brass

I just did it with a piece of 7mmRUM. It worked fine with a nice dose of Imperial sizing wax. It looked just like 338RUM but with a long neck. Trim to 2.750" after sizing.

Re: Making 338 Rum brass

My buddy just crunched down 20 300 RUM to 338 RUM and it worked just fine with Imperial wax, didn't dimple at all. I kinda wonder what would happen if a guy had a reamer set up to use the sized down 300 brass with no trimming. Might improve throat life?

Re: Making 338 Rum brass

Probably get some high pressure. That would be a ton of neck tension with that much surface area .

Re: Making 338 Rum brass

the best brass to use for your 338 rum is RWS. i use it with my edge and it is awesome! i think Norma also makes 404 jeffries which is what i use in RWS.

Re: Making 338 Rum brass

I have done it without any problems. I just used sinclairs sizing wax and made sure to rub a little in the case mouth after I trimmed a little off the case and before necking it up in the Full Length 338 Rum Die. They worked well in the rifle I tried them in.
