magnum primers in3006 loads

I'm getting ready to load up some 3006 loads with imr 4350 and 200gr.smk wondering if anybody has done this with large mag rifle primers (215s)federal should I reduce charges or keep the same charge as standard primers

Re: magnum primers in3006 loads

I use all magnum primers in my 25-06 .223. 308 dunno if it makes a difference but that's all I use .... Only time I've had issues was with Winchester primers I'm up to 6 duds out of 200 rds

If you are already close to a max load you should not substitute primers without working up the load again.

thanks for info I haven't loaded any of the 200s yet I'll proceed with caution any load data for that setup would be appreciated in only using the mag primers cause I have them, only if its safe.

Re: magnum primers in3006 loads

I have seen as much as a 30-50FPS increase when switching to from Fed210's to 215 magnum primers in 30-06 size rounds. If loading near max, I would back off a grain of powder.

Re: magnum primers in3006 loads

only arguement i can make to the previous resposes is that 06 loading data is usually on the low side of the pressure scale. the 2506 and the 270 are loaded to higher pressures in loading manuals and if your using a modern rifle and are sticking to loads right out of a manual your probably not going to get into any problem substituting a mag primer even with there max loads.
