What range are you shooting?? I loaded them in a .300RUM and at short range they did not impress me but when stretching to 300 and beyond the groups were the same as at 100yds...typically 1.5". Then at 500yds they opened up to about 2.5".

Just loaded some for a 338-378 and hope to test shoot this week.

    Two things to consider:

All Barnes copper bullets need a squeeky clean barrel to start with. There shouldn't be a trace of fouling from other bullets in the bore.

I noticed that, often, the Barnes bullets do not shoot at their best when using the slowest powders listed in the books. Try using a faster (or just different) powder.

Id keep them next to your door and throw them at cats or something. +1 to what Varmint Hunter said about having a squeaky clean barrel. I tried Barnes XLC in 4 different rifles and all I did was spend a lot of money on bullets to be tested. They shot like shotgun patterns at 100 yards. I wont ever use another Barnes X whatever. And I know how to load accurate ammo and shoot decent as well. I followed all the written guidelines in all 4 rifles with the same results. Crappy!!

    remingtonman_25_06,
Barnes XLC and Barnes TSX are different bullets. I know you know that! When I tried the Barnes TSX in my 300 RUM Remington LSS, this was my first group with 180 gr. 3 shots group at 100 yards.

I was being able to keep the group most of the time within 0.6 of an inch. You should try them!

Re: loading tuips for TSX bullets

Saturday morning I loaded six rounds for my .300 win mag. After my fouler I shot a three round group which will measure in the .3's.(100yds) My load consisted of 77 grains of RL22 with the TSX seated .50 off the lands. My only problem was pressure signs two grains below max. I didn't shoot the remaining rounds due to sticky bolt lift.

Last year, I shot a WT at 300 yards with the TSX in my 7STW. There was no exit and I failed to recover the round, but I was impressed with its performance.
