I thought that 7828 might work OK for the 200AB, but never pursued it. I topped out at about 3100 with Retumbo and 26" 10 twist with the 200AB. 109.5g US869 got me to 3200 .010 off the lands with 4" magazine. This was a pretty good load--typically .5MOA if I did my part. The best overall combination for the 300 RUM I've run across for LRH by a good bit in terms of down range (or any range) energy, high BC bullet commonly available is the 240SMK on the lands, with 104.5g US869 behind it for 3K MV. This combination seems to extract more energy out of the 300 RUM factory rifle than any other I've run across for clean long range kills on critters big or small. Good shooting!

Rem 700 LSS. I don't know how far off the rifling I am, but COAL is 3.64" if I remember. That is about as long as I could go and still fit in the mag box. There aint much of that long bullet sticking out of the case!
My 7mm RUM has a super long throat, couldn't get to the lands with the 160 AB and still have enough bullet in the case neck to feel comfortable. I don't know if this one has a long throat but I want to use it as a repeater, so it is a moot point for now.
That was an interesting point brought out about the ball powders, but I'll just see where I get with the 7828 to simplify things if I can. Using the same powder for several different large capacity cases would definitely be nice.
