Hybrid 100v and the 280 Ackley Imp?

Anybody loading this or have any data? I have some H100V and want to try it. I find data for the 280 rem but thats it. I will probably just work up a load off the max load for the 280 rem, like start at 51gr and move up in .5gr increments with a 168gr VLD. let me know what you think! components i will be using are as follows:
nosler 280AI Brass
168gr berger hunting vld
cci lr benchrest primers

I want to get 3000fps out of my 280AI in a 25in barrel with these components. chime in if you got another way (with using hodgdon powders, i dont want to mess with alliant)

You could try 63 grains of Retumbo with the 168 Hunting VLD Nosler brass and either a WLR or Mag. primer depends on the temp in which you will be hunting in ? That should get you pretty darn close to what you want out of the 280 AI.

I just looked on hodgdons site and it said that 63gr of retumbo will only get you 2830fps with a 168gr bullet? Am I missing something? Are you getting 3k with this powder at 63gr?

I'm aware of that but what you didn't notice is length of barrel that they use to test . I have a 26" 3 grove 1:9 twist barrel I get around 2975-3025 out of mine and since yours I do believe is 251/2" you should be right there but the only way to find out is to load some up and chrono then . I personally go for accuracy over speed and that load I mentioned shoots extremely accurate in my rifle.

You said you have a 3 groove, is it a benchmark barrel? I hear that the guys with these barrels are getting more than published velocities. I have a benchmark on mine so that's why I'm asking. Oh and I just bought some retumbo. I hope it works. I have h4831sc, h1000, hybrid 100v and now retumbo to try. I hope one of these will work.

No my barrel is a Pac-Nor and it is a sweet shooting barell with many different weight bullets and loads. I choose the Berger 168 Hunting VLD for many reasons but the most important to me was the performance on game Lights out is all I can say! I have a 338-06 AI coming and it is basically the same set up so I hope it will eprform like the 280 has? I push the heavier 7mm bullets in my 7RUM 179 & up to 200 grn.

Are u from the northwest? I don't hear of a lot of east coast guys using pacnor. I'm in NW washington. I hope to get 2900-3000 and I have all the hodgdon powders for the 280ai. I even got some of the new superformance powder but don't know if I will even try it yet, No data. Whataya think?
