How many rounds do you guys load at a time?

So for hunting, how many rounds do you guys load at a time? Seems like the more you load in one session (say 200 or so) you would have time to really try out the load. If you load less (say 50 or so) then you could change something the next time out if they were not grouping the way you wanted. I personally have been loading about 100 rounds per reloading session. In my case, if I reload 100 rounds, then how many should I take to the range and chrono so that I know the velocity of my "lot"? Thanks for the advice as always.

My usual, once I found a decent load would be 50 to 100. If the load was exceptional, I've been known to load several hundred.

I will load lots of 3 in different combinations till i find the load I want. Once im happy with my load and grouping of that particular round I will load 25-50 and write down the specfics in my handbook.

Re: How many rounds do you guys load at a time?

For my serious LR stuff I seldom load more than 40 or 50 at a time, more often it will be only 20.

I normally have 100 rounds of brass that I have fully gone through and feel are as identical as I can make them. I normally buy powder in 5 or 8 pound jugs and bullets in 250 or 500 round boxes. Using the same jug of powder and the same box of bullets along with brass that all the prep work was done at one time assures me that I have consistent components.

I don't like loading large quantities unless I know I am going to be shooting them right away. I know some BR shooters who swear that after a loaded round has been sitting around for a few months that the bullet and case neck form a little bit of a "bond" and that will change the POI. I don't really know if that is true, but for me and the way I shoot and load, keeping 20 to 40 rounds on hand works for me.

For hunting ammo I'm converting to not more than 40-60 rds. Things change, like the 180gr hornady's are a little to stout for antelope and deer.

Range ammo, is plentiful from last years left over hunting ammo. And the years before.

AR ammo, can you have too much loaded up?
