Re: hornady brass

I've used it in 300 wby. My complaint is that the primer pockets go to heck in just a couple of "warm" loads that don't bother normal Norma or Rem brass.

Now for the good news...my really fussy 300 wby UL really likes it. Seems to shoot better groups with Hornady than the other 2 brands and I cannot begin to understand why. I can also say that neck consistancy and wt consistancy is wonderful with this brass and even unsized virgin brass loads up with excellent runnout.

I bought quite a bit when it was really cheap...about $26/50....now it's about $45/50. I shoot it once or twice with 180's at about 3200 fps...then deisgnate it to hunting only rounds and toss it after a hunt. I;ll probably buy more when my supply is gone....even though I think it is very soft brass.

Re: hornady brass

For my .204, Hornady brass gives me the best results. I tried Winchester, Federal, and Remington brass, and found that the Hornady gave me the the lowest SD and extreme spread. I have found that even at the max load, the hornady .204 cases seem to strectch much less than the others.

Re: hornady brass

This will be my first time using Hornady Brass, I just got in 100 cases in .308 cal. "2 - boxes of 50 cnt" "same lot #" Here are there weights out of the box. I will re-weigh once I run them through the sizer die and neck'em down to my liking! New comp die's coming in today. After measuring COAL on a few, I found them to be a little inconsistant so this should tighten up the MAX spread & standard dev. a little bit. Only data in RED was used in the analysis. I also have 100 Cases (ea) of Norma & lapua brass coming in soon "back ordered" of course!! Working on a hunting load for my M700P TWS using 168 Barnes Tipped TSX, 165 Swift Scirocco II, 165 Sierra Game Kings. Varget / IMR 3031 Powders. Should be interesting who comes out on top!! My guess....Norma / TSX / Varget !!

Re: hornady brass

Anybody have any thing to add to this thread? Hornady is the only thing I can find readily available in 300wm right now. From what was said previous in this thread I think it sounds like good quality.

Thanks,

Steve
