Hornaday HPBT opinions.

Has anyone here shot the Hornaday HPBT at long range?? I bought some to try since the are $12 cheaper per 100 than the SMKs I have been shooting. I might have time to shoot some this weekend but just because the are the same type, size, and weight doesn't mean it will shoot well at the same load as the SMK. Ill most likely have to work up a new load for it.

Just hoping someone here has tried them and can give me some success or failure reports on them.

Thanks

I'd say that's definitely a positive result. Good shooting BTW. Thanks.

Anyone else shot them??

Re: Hornaday HPBT opinions.

I've been working with the 225 hpbt in my 300 rum with rl33 and rl50 but I haven't really gotten to long range yet with it. Both powders yield very stable accuracy at <3/4 moa at 100 yards. They fall into normal accuracy range for the rifle, but I only shoot hornady in this rifle lately and she's a 9# kickin' mule without a brake, so I don't know if I'm the perfect one to answer your question.

Re: Hornaday HPBT opinions.

i have shot the 168 horn out of my 30-06 they shoot as good as the 168 smk. however the 168 berger and 175 smk do ever so slightly better.

Re: Hornaday HPBT opinions.

I just bought 700 of the Grafs 175gr HPBT. I suspect they are in fact SMK's since the BC matches and I know Hornady does not do a 175gr HPBT.

For the price, it seems really hard to beat ($28/100) and I see they are now sold out... Figures.
