Headstamp jargon

What does the "P" stand for in the "R-P" on Remington brass?

And why, when I've bought Winchester brass, is it sometimes headstamped W-W Super? I used to assume Winchester and WW Super brass were identical. Then I weighed some .223 Remington cases and found one was significantly heavier than the other (I can't remember which, WW Super or Winchester).

The P stands for Peters. Used to be Remington Peters ammo. The W-W is for Winchester-Western.

Usually, Winchester brass manufactured for sale to reloaders is marked "Winchester", and Factory ammo is put up in cases marked "WW Super". There are likely variations to this statement, but I believe it's still basically correct, although I seem to remember some special lots of ammo put up in cases marked "Winchester".
