I've been having a problem with my .300 RUM. About every twenty or so rounds I get a hang fire. I pull the trigger and I hear the pin fall and then it goes boom. At first I was thinking light primer strikes but I checked and there has been good strike on every primer.
I'm running CCI Mag primers with 87.5g RE-25 in Rem. factory brass with the 210 Berger. I'm not cutting the primer pocket at all but each case is washed and the pocket cleaned of all carbon with a q-tip before reloading. I'm seating the primes with my RCBS rockchucker press. I haven't noticed loose pockets and each primer has been seated firmly.
I've used the CCI Mag primers in my .270 for about ten years and have never had a problem.
Is anyone else having issues with this primer in the RUM?
I thought about that too. This last batch I let air dry neck down on a paper towel for a day and then put them in the oven at 200 degrees (again neck down) for a half an hour and let them cool before I primed them.
