H4831 or IMR4831 for .300 win mag

I am looking for some insight on your experience loading for the .300 wIn mag.
My rifle is a 700P with a 26" 1:10 twist barrel. And I will be using 180 gr sierra gamekings, win mag primers, and remington brass.
Getting ready for a wyoming mule deer hunt.
I am trying to decide between IMR4831 and H4831. Sierra says that IMR gives the best accuracy, but I like the temp stability of the hodgdon. I will be shooting in temps anywhere between 0-90 degrees and elevations from 1,000-10,000.
What have you guys gotten for extreme velocity spreads with those two powders, and what would you recommend?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Try the H4831 first I get great accuracy with it in the 300WM with 180gr bullets !

Re: H4831 or IMR4831 for .300 win mag

I had h4831 for my 7 mag and 300 win mag and I just switch to imr4831.

there are far more options with the imr4831. as for bullet sizes. plus it seems the imr4831 is closer to the max for accuracy

as for temp var. stay away from reloader. everyone I talk to that uses it there is a big difference.

I do use rl-15 in my 308 but just for long range target shooting in the summer.

Wisdearkiller, I am curious, what are the options of IMR4831 over H4831? I know IMR is faster burning, but what else? Not sure as to what you mean about bullet sizes. Thanks,

If you want to only go with one of those I'd go with h4831 (not sc). I was noticing 100 fps + loss between the sc and older h4831 in my rem 300 win when I was using 180's. H1000 or rl22/25 would do well for you too. I've not noticed any real issues in the kegs of rl22 I've burned in my 300 wins, but I don't load balls to the wall either; I get a bigger rifle if I want more thump than she's designed for.
