Has anyone heard of H205 powder from Hodgdon? Someone wants to sell me some really cheap. An estate sale thing. The cans look old but they look like they have never seen the light of day.

I can't find it on the Powder Burn Rate Chart.

My suggestion would be to call Hodgdon direct and ask them. I've called them before about powder that they no longer make, and they were more than helpful about where it falls in line.

Run a Google search on "H205 powder". You will come across another forum which has a thread that alludes to it being a pulldown powder and then links to this chart

You have no way of determining if the original owner took some empty powder cans and filled them with a fast pistol powder or shotgun powder. I do a lot of stupid things in life and most of them could have been avoided if I had taken 10 seconds to think about it before I did it. I would suggest you take 10 seconds here and use your brain.

I called Hodgdon. They said H205 was a surplus military powder that they stopped carrying in 1979. SO...this powder is at least 30 years old and it being surplus it could be 40+ years old.
I think I will pass on old powder!!
