H- Hornady Superperformance powder, any one try yet?
Picked up a lb. of this last week and was wondering if anyone tried it yet. Noticed it was very fine but seems a lot slower than 4350.

Re: H- Hornady Superperformance powder, any one try yet?
I ordered some cause my 338WM seems to love the GMX 185 ammo. Sighting in a new scope, I did not stop to clean after a few rounds and ole Nellie started to get tighter with every shot. Could not believe it cause I was shooting off a backpack the last 10 of 20 rounds. Please let us know if you clock your shots as to they are slower or not cause my Go to round uses H4350. They advertise more speed -less kick and preasure. Just like to know. It will be a while before I reload my ELK ammo. May use these 185 GMXs instead of 225 MRXs.
Thanks

Re: H- Hornady Superperformance powder, any one try yet?
yes it is slower than 4350. My load for my 6mm 284 is 54 grains I-4350 85 bthp sierra at 3450. i pulled bullets and dumped powder and started at 50 grains loading only 2 per charge going to 55 grains. Didnt like the idea of trying serious groups with bullets pulled and re seated just looking for pressure and vel. The last charge of 55 grains was at 3400 and not even close to pressure i was just playing it safe since i didnt have anything to go by. I reloaded 4 more series starting at 56 grains to 60 hoping to get to range soon to serious test. It is definity a slower burning rate but it looks so fine. I noticed on the label it said like 72 grains for a 300 wsm 155 grain hornady. I am shooting 65 grains of 4350 out of my son in laws 300 wsm with 150 bt. Thinking at the beginning it would be like this i still played it safe with the 6-284 starting out at 50 grains. My 2 shot groups last night wasent really that bad.

Oh dang how did I forget that ? Either 87gr V-Max or 90gr Nosler BT. Do you do any neck turning ? What brand brass are you using ?

Re: H- Hornady Superperformance powder, any one try yet?
Results:
Went to range this morning only problem 38-40 degree like to work loads at 70-80. Any way it performed great. 6mm x 284 using 85 sierra bt. I loaded up 4 strings of 3 going from 57-60 grains of this superperformance powder. First 57 grains vel. 3564 group .641 second 58 grains vel. 3630 group .483. The 58 grains had an ejector mark on case but not that bad. I didnt shoot the 59 and 60 for seeing to much pressure. I will go back next time with thinking 57.5 . Even the 58 with a mark shooting under 1/2" i would keep for deer hunting due to temps are mostly a lot colder than 40 degree. This powder has given me close to 200 fps more than my regular load using 4350. I am very anxious to try it in some other guns. My gun also is a factory rem 700 243 rechambered to a 6-284 sitting in a Mcmillian stock. Not to shabby for a factory barrel. Im using winchester brass and havent turned a neck since the ppc days 20 years ago. I have a friend in my area who pionered this caliber in our area he has a local gunshop near by. He has taken 23 bull elk since 1978 with the 6-284 up to 750 yards using the nosler 100 g solid base they dont make anymore but he wasable to buy several thousand at the end of the run. I witnessed his last 2 elk in co. taken with this caliber does more damage than one would ever think. He recomended this 85 sierra for deer hunting in our area does a graet job on our whitetails.
