H-4350 in .308?
Guys thanks a thousand times over and over.
Can I use this powder on .308/165 grain? none of my loading books can help me.
This kinda pizzes me off. having all this information and I can't even get an answer from HODGDON loading info from my PC.
My good neighbor who I help often, bought me this Powder thinking I still had my 7MAG
here at my home, didnt know I sent it out to South Dakota with my Brother.
His son inlaw bought a Russian bolt action thinking he could hunt ELK with this Rifle,
Al was how should I say, he exploded at his thinking. He kinda went nuts.
So, can I ask one more time? can I load a 165gr SST in .308 winchester? using H4350 POWDER?
I feel like a pest, or a kid who keeps asking please or why.
Thanks guys.

Back when I was shooting over the course I used 4350 in my match 308 M70.Very accurate with Sierra 168 grain match bullets.Sierras manuel shows between 43 to 48 grains of 4350 for 165 grain bullets.

Re: H-4350 in .308?
I've never tried H4350 in 308 as I was always told that the burn rate was too slow. Varget, RL 15, Power Pro 2000MR are all good powders that work great with 168gr bullets. Varget probably being the most popular. If you do try H4350 post the results Im curious to see how it shoots with the 168s. With this being said, I think H4350 would work well with heavy 308 bullets (200+ gr) and long barrels. My next competition barrel with be 30+ inch and I think im gonna give H4350 a whirl.

Great to hear, what was your barrel length and what kinda velocity were you getting?

Re: H-4350 in .308?
You "can't" get enough of any of the 4350s under a 165 in a 308 to get over 50k psi unless your jamming them in the lands, then it might hit 52k psi or so. Accurate yes, as fast and as accurate as Varget or 4064, not even close. I bet you can't get 2550fps from a 24" barrel, and that bullet can be accurately push to 2850 in a 24" barreled 308.

Re: H-4350 in .308?
I had one faster lot of it that would get me 2750 in a 26" barrel with the 190VLD. 50.0 grains of it.
Too slow for the 165's.

Thats pretty dang good, especially for a 26 inch barrel. Was that where the accuracy was at (2750) or was that the speed you got working up in load developement? I talked to a guy that was telling me that at the nationals (FTR 308) this year in Raton there were several guys shooting H4350 with 210 VLDs in 30+ inch barrels. Don't know what kinda velocity they were getting though but i'm sure it was pretty good and i'm sure there chambers were throated long to get enough powder in the case.
