Forster Case Neck Reamer

I just got Forster Case Neck Reamer as an addition to Forster Case Neck Turner, looks like this one has to work with fired cases, before resizing them. I think its not working as supposed to, looks like my chamber is a bit bigger so neck expand more and the reamer is not grabbing, it feels loose... Any suggestion on how to use this tool so it will work?

Re: Forster Case Neck Reamer

Hey jinx

Yeah the Forster reamer is ~.003" larger than caliber and if your chamber neck clearance is more than that then it will be loose in a fired case neck. Mine are only useful in my tight necked chambers where I have to outside neck turn for .003" clearance and then the reamer will work after firing and before sizing.

But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. The only other way I can think of right now to get .003" over caliber ID is with the appropriate bushing if you are using a bushing die.

Yeah. Make the neck smaller. Size and expand it normally, then ream.

An option if you return it - I use the K&M system with their mandrel that inside neck reams at the same time it outside neck turns. A critical part is their Expandiron that sizes the neck for the appropriate mandrel prior to reaming/turning. The inside reamer mandrel is pricey at $35 each but worth it.

K&M Precision Reloading: K & M Neck Turning Tool it doesn't look like it turns inside of the neck, maybe I'm looking at the wrong product. But is there any other neck reamers which can work on already re-sized necks so I don't have to deal with my chamber size?
