Do someone Use Imr 8208 XBR with 168 gr TSX in 30-06

Just bought a pound of imr 8208 XBR to reload my tikka t3 30-06 with 168 gr. TSX but I'm looking for DAta... My powder broker highly recommended this powder to get about 2900 fps.. But when I look to hogdgon data they list a max of 46gr. for a max at 2748 fps... So I'm a bit confused they seller told me that I could achieve at least 100 Fps more than the Varget Load that list at 50.5gr. at 2859fps.. Thinking about the grooves on the TSX that lower the pressure do you think guys I could achieve it without blowing my gun out... I must say that I'm always on the hotter side butwhen I see some sitcky bolt or flattened primers I stop there and backoff a bit.. By the way I'll surely make a LAdder test to determine the OCW and hoping the speed Will get there..

Thank for your infos
David

I think that Imr 8208 is too fast of of a powder for 168 gr in an 06. Best the use a slower powder. I've working with H4350 and this powder has been very, very consistent in different weather.

30-06 168gr TSX
H4350 @ 57.5 gr OCW.
2807fps. not the fastest, but puts in the same spot every time.

6-shots with fouler...

That's what I was thinking.. It as about the same burning rate than 4895 My sellor told me that a few guys around here reload with it and get some great results.. I will surely give it atry with a ladder tet over chrony and see what it has to offer... I'll do it too with H4350 and IMR 4350.. Had done last year with Varget with great results. Have killed a Moose this fall at 250 yards With TSX and Varget..

I'm not familiar with IMR 8208.

I will say that speed should be last on your list of expectations. I would think shooting slower powders in longer barrels would get you better speed easier/safer.

I shoot 168 TSX out of my 300 WM, don't have a cronograph. They definitly don't shoot the same tragectory as 168gr Match.

I use 8208 in my Savage 111 .30-06. I've been loading 49-50 gr. with 150 gr. nosler partition. I plan to step up a little. Don't have a chronograph yet, so no velocities to report. I looked on the IMR page, and it says 2900fps at 50 grains..... but then again I heard they were lowballing it.

First of all, listen to your reloading manuals. Second, Barnes does not list 8208 in their data. Third, 46 grains = 84% load density, you want 95% or higher. Either H-4350 (52-55.5 grains) or IMR 4350 (53-57.5 grains) would be a good choice.
