Dirty Brass

Dirty Brass

I bought some once fired 270WSM cases (factory ammo) and put them in the case cleaner/vibrator .. They have been in there for a long time but these smudges at the neck (some cases have it on the body) don't seem to be coming off...I even tried wiping them with rubbing alcohol and windex, didn't help..

The brass I fire through my rifles doesn't do this, I was just wondering what causes it?

    hard to tell, but looks like a chemical stain.

    Yes they also sell loaded ammo but that's not what I was asking...

    Looks like tarnish from here. Soak it in vinegar a half hour, rinse, dry and tumble again.

    Looks like someone was experimenting with reduce load using pistol or shotgun powder, I think this is Trail Boss, I had same carbon stain on my 308 when I was experimenting with subsonic loads...
